Blending seamlessly into the vertical limestone cliffs, this impressive fortress suddenly appears as you turn along the winding road. Located just a few minutes from La Roque Saint-Christophe in the Vézère Valley, it opens the door to a world of dark legends, powerful lords and a strangely captivating atmosphere.
The visit begins with an ascent, by path or staircase, as if earning your way into this remarkable Historic Monument. Once inside, step into a world of forgotten objects and curious relics… and beware not to linger too long in the dungeon, where darkness still reigns.

Behind its Renaissance façade lies a fully troglodytic dwelling, once used by prehistoric peoples more than 20,000 years ago. Beneath the rock shelter, in the cave with its clay floor, an exhibition reveals archaeological discoveries found on site: hand axes, spears and other fascinating traces of early human life.
This noble residence, over 700 years old, was nearly lost to time before being brought back to life in 2005 by its current owner.

As you explore, the atmosphere becomes almost tangible. In the kitchen, the crackling fire in the cantou fills the air with the scent of wood smoke. The table is set with traditional foods, and the medieval “potager” (hearth) recalls the daily life of the past. Look closely and you may spot old utensils such as the couade or a glass rolling pin, alongside a natural water source gently flowing nearby.
Further along, discover the Honour Hall, the Hall of Great Men, the dungeon, the armoury, bedrooms and a breathtaking panorama from 40 metres above the valley. Every room is steeped in mystery, as if unseen presences still linger within these ancient walls.
As night falls, step into the fortress cloaked in a mysterious half-light. By candlelight, explore its rooms for a rare and immersive visit, where every shadow deepens the atmosphere of this extraordinary cliff château.
The experience continues with a dinner in the Honour Hall, illuminated by flickering flames, before giving way to a captivating mentalism performance. Between mystery and heightened sensations, this exclusive evening offers a truly unique immersion into a place steeped in history… and sometimes said to be haunted.
Privatised for the night, the site reveals its most intimate and intriguing side. Stories, gastronomy and spectacle come together for a timeless and unforgettable experience.

At Maison Forte de Reignac, every corner holds a surprise. As you explore, countless pieces of furniture and curious objects catch your eye: a “fire trap,” a safe with three secret locks, a restraint cage, or even a stone counterweight spit. Enough to fascinate both children and adults alike.
Whispers of the past seem to linger… including the restless spirit of the infamous “Goat of Reignac,” said to have once roamed these walls without mercy. In the Honour Hall, keep an eye out for the discreet Sator Square, a rare and mysterious inscription first discovered in Pompeii.
And the experience doesn’t end there. Once outside the fortress, the former stables present a final challenge. Do you have a strong heart? The unsettling Museum of Torture, located near the shop, reveals the harsh and brutal methods of punishment from centuries past.
One thing is certain: Reignac leaves a lasting impression… mysterious, intense and unforgettable.
