The guided tour is engaging and helps deepen your understanding of this remarkable cave.
Our partner Grotte de Maxange has been awarded the Qualité Tourisme label and the Tourisme et Handicap label (hearing and mental disabilities).

In August 2000, in the heart of the Mestreguiral quarry, a dark fissure caught the attention of Angel Caballero. What began as a simple exploration quickly became one of the most remarkable geological discoveries in the Périgord. Two years later, after extensive clearing work, Grotte de Maxange opened to the public, revealing an underground network adorned with rare and spectacular eccentric formations.

Made of calcite and aragonite, these rare structures grow in every direction, creating a genuine underground “constellation.” Visitors are captivated by this natural masterpiece shaped over thousands of years.
Since its discovery, Grotte de Maxange has remained a true family story. Angel Caballero, his wife Martine and their sons Cyril and Olivier continue to explore and develop this underground gem. Their passion and dedication offer visitors an authentic and memorable experience.
