Christine Et Paul Meule Moulin de la VeyssièreAt Moulin de la Veyssière, established since the 13th century and shaped in its current form since 1560, the Elias family has perpetuated the production of fine oils for seven generations: walnut, hazelnut, almond, and other nuts, all selected with unwavering standards. Just a few miles away, Noyeraies du Lander extends this narrative to the very source: walnut orchards tended with meticulous care, respecting the seasons and the patience of time. Together, these two houses embody a virtuous cycle, from the orchard to the mill, where tradition engages in a dialogue with contemporary expectations, in a spirit of sharing and elegance.
There are places that awaken the senses even before you cross the threshold. The murmur of the water at La Veyssière, the light dancing across the rows of walnut trees at Le Lander, the warm scent of freshly pressed walnuts: everything here speaks of authenticity and legacy. You enter as you would a friend’s home, welcomed with that rare kindness that only places inhabited by passion can offer. This is not a mere visit, but an immersion into a craft, an art, and a story told through raw materials and time-honored gestures.
We visited with the owner—a truly fascinating and passionate woman. The products they create are delicious; we left with their entire range of oils!
Nestled in the heart of Périgord Blanc, the Moulin de la Veyssière is a 16th-century watermill and the very last oil mill still active in the Vern Valley. Located in Neuvic-sur-l’Isle, it retains that rare charm of places that have journeyed through centuries without losing their soul. In 1857, Jacques Elias purchased the mill and breathed new life into its history; for nearly 170 years, passion and savoir-faire have been passed down through seven generations.
At the mill, artisanal oils and flours of character are crafted from walnuts, hazelnuts, almonds, and peanuts. While the craft remains traditional, the mill has evolved with the times: since 2012, it has opened its doors to visitors seeking gourmet discoveries. Here, history and gastronomy naturally intertwine in a spirit of sharing, simplicity, and uncompromising standards.

CDT 24 - Expérience "Moulin de la Veyssière"
Les Noyeraies Du LandersMoulin de la Veyssière produces premium virgin oils from walnuts, hazelnuts, almonds, and peanuts. Driven by a clear ambition, the family sought to go further by becoming farmers themselves, mastering the entire production chain from field to plate.
This vision became a reality in 2022 with the acquisition of a historic farm in the heart of Périgord Noir: Les Noyeraies du Lander. The synergy between the mill’s expertise and the orchard’s cultivation now allows for total mastery of the process: from tree to bottle. This precious continuity further strengthens the consistency of the craft, the respect for the raw material, and the exceptional quality of the taste.
At Moulin de la Veyssière, emotion is born from the encounter—the meeting of a rare savoir-faire and a sincere welcome. Within the intimacy of this setting, gestures are unveiled, aromas are revealed, and time stands still. A precious interlude, defined by elegance, sharing, and a living heritage.
Nestled in the heart of Périgord Noir, Les Noyeraies du Lander blend savoir-faire, discovery, gourmet delights, and escape. The story began in 1928 with the Aussel family, originally farmers. From 1950, under the leadership of Paul Aussel, the business evolved into the trading of walnuts and kernels; the Aussel Company then played an active role in structuring the walnut industry in Périgord. In the 2000s, Giliane Aussel took the helm with a strong desire: to sustain the work initiated by her parents.
For over 50 years, the orchard has produced walnuts and walnut/hazelnut oils using artisanal techniques passed down from generation to generation. In 2022, a new chapter began: Damien and Paul, childhood friends, took up the torch. Driven by a relationship of trust and a shared desire to breathe life into a family orchard rooted in Dordogne, they combine tradition with a contemporary vision.
