Iconiques du périgordBeyond the facilities and technical expertise, what leaves a lasting impression on visitors is the team. Here, every individual embodies the estate’s philosophy: to share, to pass on, and to welcome.
The connection is warm, direct, and human—far removed from standardized tours. One senses a quiet pride: the pride of having chosen the demanding path of artisanal creation. Conversations are open, sometimes technical, often passionate, and always sincere.
At La Distillerie de l’Ort, you don’t just enter a workshop; you step into a story. The welcome is warm, authentic, almost confidential. Light rests upon the stills, the air carries delicate botanical notes, and meeting the team immediately sets the tone: here, every gesture counts, every detail has meaning. The visit becomes a conversation, a moment of sharing, an initiation into time, taste, and terroir. You don’t just discover spirits; you live an experience—discreet, elegant, and profound.
I first visited La Distillerie de l’Ort last summer—a beautiful little gem tucked away in Périgord. I received such a warm welcome and discovered their succulent spirits (gin, pastis, and vermouth). Having run out of their delicious vermouth and nearly out of gin, I placed an order on their website and discovered their Winter Gin: yet another fantastic bottle to add to the collection!
Distillerie de l'Ort Meeting the creators remains the highlight of the experience. We speak of terroir, techniques, and inspirations… but also of emotions, doubts, and convictions. This sharing gives the visit a rare, human dimension. Here, the visitor is never just a spectator; you become a guest, a partner in conversation, and a witness to a living craftsmanship.
At La Distillerie de l’Ort, technique serves intention. Every choice is deliberate and confident, guided by a quest for balance and emotion. Distillation is carried out with extreme attention to detail—temperatures, rhythms, cuts, and resting periods.
Visitors discover a world where science and sensitivity move forward hand in hand. Nothing is static; everything is evolving. It is this creative tension between rigor and intuition that gives birth to spirits with a true identity.
